The hexacabin quilt
Finished quilt Friday! This one was an improv dream– an idea that materialized into something that I am really proud of. I worked outside my comfort zones with the colors (I have a hard time using red in a way that doesn’t feel like Christmas) and just went for it.
It’s a little wonky, but I think that’s what gives it personality.
I stippled all over and backed it with an ombre chevron that was magically the right size for the back.
The binding is Kona Navy, which looks very sophisticated to me.
I wrote about the hexacabin here and posted a tutorial here.
Have a great weekend! The snow looks great in pictures, but I hope a whole lot of it melts.
This is one of my favorites and I want to try it soon!!!! Oh, and wonky is all in the eyes of the beholder. I think it is beautiful.
I love everything, and I cannot wait to create my own!
It’s one of my favorites of yours. Love it so much!
That is so pretty! And I agree with red – Christmas or clowns, but I think you’ve done a real nice job. I didn’t think of either!
Loved the top when I first saw it, but I think the chevron back is inspired.
I love this one!! The color combinations are so pleasing and the design is so classy. The winter wonderland photo shoot really shows it off. Nice job!
Really Really GREAT!
I haven’t tried this yet but I did link your tutorial for my readers. It’s on my list! Yours looks great.
It turned out great! I especially like how you added the narrow bird layers, it adds a nice definition to the others.
Thanks so much for that, name buddy! I can’t wait to see when people do try it out.
I think the complete hexagon looks like it’s floating. It’s a cool optical effect. Really a great quilt. I love the red!
