WIP Wednesday 7.10.13

Wow, what an eventful and fast-flying week that was! There were fireworks, pool parties, a four-hour trip to Annapolis and back for my cousin’s beautiful wedding, news of a new baby in the extended family and a lovely new batch of quilting students. More on them soon.

That means that there wasn’t a lot of time for sewing. I did, however, have some design consultations with the big brother, and he agreed to a new top for his pigeon quilt. I got the HSTs made (but not trimmed) last night:

I didn’t have enough of the word bubble print to finish that left row, so I used a solid that matched the background. I think it’s a little too bright, so I’ll be fiddling with that later.

I have been playing with the idea of playing with more color. I love the mellow teals of the pigeon fabric, but the next project will be bright. I’m craving lots and lots of color. When I had a few spare minutes last week I taped up some batting and played with the rainbow.

I didn’t know I had so many shades of scraps! There wasn’t enough room for all the purples and pinks. I’m looking forward to figuring out what this will become.

Linking up with Freshly Pieced.
