The Only Way Out is Through (Feel the Feelings)
Feelings can be painful, but they need to be felt. The needle punctures, but it also mends. The only way out is through.

This quilt was made for a workshop that I taught jointly with Anne Sullivan called Adventures in Improv Design, where we used storytelling structure to create an improvised composition. I told the story of my emotional experience in 2020 and early 2021 from the top of the quilt to the bottom. The red fabric represents fear and anxiety.

Pieced by machine quickly and quilted by hand slowly, this quilt gave me the opportunity to process those pointy feelings and demonstrate internal work with knots representing strength.
