Quiltspiration: Brooklyn edition
There are times, usually right after I’ve finished a quilt, when I am open to all kinds of inspiration. Colors, textures, patterns– they all pop out, begging to be made into a quilt.
On Saturday the family went into Brooklyn for a family visit, and I saw inspiration everywhere.
There were the angles and architecture of the bridge:
The colors and message of this mural in DUMBO on Jay Street:
The metallic texture of the elevator walls:
This great painting in my sister’s apartment (which reminded me of Cath’s Sunburnt Country):
The facade of the Barclay Center, all mirrors and rust:
And this uber minimal tabletop at Il Porto Pizzeria:
I’m in design mode for several new quilts, so keep an eye out for these shapes and colors.
What inspires you?
This happens to me too! I love it. Like my eyes are wider open for a little while and the world feels full of possibility. You have captured it so well. I love these pictures.
