Give and get lucky

I’ve been feeling pretty fortunate lately, and a really great thing to do when you’re feeling lucky is to do something nice for someone else. But when I’m feeling lousy, it always picks me up to do something nice for someone else. So really, it’s never a bad time to pass along a little kindness, and it just so happens that there have been a couple of really great causes with quilt connections online this week.

Modern quilter Alissa Haight Carlton (someone whose work I really respect and have been too shy to write the fan letter to) has been raising money for Action Kivu, a nonprofit that teaches women in Eastern Congo to sew and provide for their families and communities. Today is the last day of the fundraiser, and she’s offering some amazing prizes for donors. You still have a few hours!

Also, my friend, NJMQG cohort and friend of Molli Sparkles Ashley of Wasn’t Quilt in a Day is giving away a quilt to donors of her sister Z’s fundraising efforts to end childhood cancer. Z is going to shave her head to raise awareness and money for St. Baldrick’s. Click here to read Ashley’s post and see the gorgeous quilt that one lucky donor will win.

I love this quilting community. If you feel so inclined, please forward on some love of your own.
