Free motion quilting class recap
You know that it’s been a good class when a student suddenly yells out, “This is so fun!” I was hoping to pass along my love of free motion quilting, and I think it worked.
(pictures are of my class samples)
We spent the first few minutes of class getting acquainted with the mechanics of FMQ, and then we practiced and practiced. The biggest challenge is figuring out the shapes and speed that work best for a particular person.
The class was so adventurous– one student tried flowers, another made some gorgeous swirls and yet another found her success in more linear zigzag designs.
Below is one student’s work. Amazing for a first timer! After practicing, she FMQed an adorable owl print to use as a potholder or coasters.
Thanks to those who braved the crazy weather to come out and quilt.
