WIP Wednesday 5.8.13
I got a lot of work done on the new skyline quilt yesterday.
To recap, my original design is about angles, negative space and a little love for the Big Apple. The back is a surprise for the quilt’s recipient, with improv-pieced grey and a pop of color text.
I finished the letters and moved on to the buildings next.
The tiny pieces in each buildings are a little time consuming, so I was happy to get it all done in one sewing session. The sky is Chicopee Ladder Dot and the buildings are from some Simply Color ombre yardage.
Then, just for fun, I lay everything out on the floor.
I need to do some tweaks to get the layout just right, but I’m starting to get excited.

This quilt is going to be amazing! I can’t wait to see it all done. Chicopee Ladder Dot is one of my all time favorite fabrics. 🙂
Thanks so much Amanda! I love your site name.
What a cool concept! It is turning out so cool!
Look at all that Chicopee Ladder Dot… haha! Seriously, I’m digging this new design. I’ve always loved your skyline quilts, but I love the addition of the colorful top. I think this really adds a lot and it’s awesome!
Looking forward to seeing the finished cityscape quilt.
I feel like I’m hogging it now! I’ll let you know if I have any extra. 🙂
Thanks!
Me too! Now I just need a few more hours in a day… 🙂
Oh, girl, you know that’s not a worry! I love an excuse to buy fabric and make the shipping worth it 🙂
