Skylar’s skyline quilt

My original design for Fiona’s skyline quilt included gray buildings and a black printed sky. But a monochromatic color scheme didn’t seem very appropriate for a baby (at the time), and I fell in love with the bright prints that I ended up using. When I heard another New York baby was on the way, this time for a friend who planned to move to New Jersey after the baby was born, I wanted to give her a little piece of Manhattan to snuggle with. Better yet, the sex of the baby was a surprise, and while shopping at Rock Paper Scissors I found an adorable black and white alphabet print that made a monochromatic color scheme fun and kid-like.

Little Skylar Paige (LOVE her name) was born on Tuesday, so I quickly quilted and bound it this week. Voila!

The quilting is my usual meandering loops.

I used the alphabet print on the back too. The binding is a baby houndstooth. The buildings are grey ombre from the Simply Color line. It’s 36×45, perfect for a stroller, crib or play blanket.

I reversed the skyline so that it’s the view from New Jersey instead of Brooklyn.

I love how this quilt is sophisticated and fun. Thanks for taking a look!
