Hazel’s quilt
I loved this fabric long before I had a quilt design (or recipient) for it. When we found out that friends were keeping the sex of their May baby a secret, I found the fabric’s purpose. The stacked book design came together quickly, and I got to use the large-scale dragonflies on the back. I also absolutely adore this shade of green (Kona peridot, I think?).
I did the same loopy quilting as the Candy quilt, enjoying the freedom and artistry of it a lot. Some people say that sewing relaxes them, but free motion quilting actually amps me up. I can’t sleep right after finishing the quilting. Anyway, I started to get confident, and I decided to try something. And it worked! I bragged about it to Joe for a really long time.
I quilted it right after we found out that the baby was a girl, and I was able to monogram it.
I’m really trying to take better pictures of my quilts since I keep giving them away. I took this one outside before sending it off to Hazel in Manhattan.
This is lovely. I love that you did her name in it!
