Ryan’s quilt
This weekend I got to do one of my favorite things and give a quilt to a new baby in the family, Ryan.
It’s inspired by the quilts of the Gee’s Bend quilters, especially the giant log cabin and courthouse steps single-block quilts. I dove into my navy and white print stash and really enjoyed mixing them up a little.
The finished strips are 3″ wide and the quilt itself measures 45″ x 40″. The quilting follows the seams to make an irregular grid, and the binding is a favorite Carolyn Friedlander print from Doe.
This might be a go-to design for future baby quilts. It comes together so quickly and looks so classic and modern at the same time. It would be fun to do with different colors.

Thanks for stopping by! Have a great week!
I love, love, love log cabin blocks. I’m just a sucker for them. This is lovely, and there really is no greater joy than gifting a quilt to a baby. I hope it gets a lot of love and play over the years. š
